Community Partnerships

The North Canterbury Sport & Recreation Trust has formed positive working relationships with a variety of local sports clubs to assist them with administration, promotion, skills coaching and venue development and maintenance.

NCSRT has been working with the North Canterbury Basketball Association for many years to provide administration support.  The Trust has also introduced a Mini-ball programme to help develop the skills of year 3/4 students before they start playing in the NCBA's Friday night competitions.

In 2015 the Rangiora Hockey Club and NCSRT began work on building a mini-hockey turf in Rangiora using materials sourced from earthquake damaged Porritt Park.  The Trust provides a vital link between the Hockey Club and the Waimakariri DIstrict Council to secure use of the land for this turf at Dudley Park for the long term.

In 2024 the NCSRT coordinated the construction of a mini-hockey turf at Kaiapoi High School for the use of the Hinemoa-Kaiapoi Hockey Club, KHS and the Kaiapoi Netball Club.
